From the jungles of Belize to modern UK hospitals, as a Registered Nurse, you'll command a team that provides the very highest standard of care. You’ll deal with a wide range of medical situations, which could involve caring for civilian and military patients in the UK to military casualties of war and conflict. As an Army Nurse, you’ll have the opportunity to start your Army career by training as a soldier or officer. You’ll also receive 38 days’ annual leave every year (plus bank holidays and extra leave after operations), free medical and dental care, cheaper living costs, and free gym and sports facilities. And unless you're away on operations or training exercises, you'll normally work 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
If you hold a recognised specialist qualification within Emergency, Intensive Care or Burns and Plastics you may be eligible for a £30,000 bonus on completion of your military training.
What we are looking for
To qualify, you must be between 17 years 9 months and 36 years and 11 months. You’ll need to be registered with the NMC. You can join as a newly qualified nurse, be in your final year of training (on a course which will result in NMC registration) or join with prior nursing experience. You’ll also need to pass a basic fitness test.

It all starts at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. You’ll learn the skills you need to become an Officer – from weapons handling to outdoor survival – to what it takes to lead your team in a range of hostile situations, anywhere in the world.
Once you’ve commissioned, you’ll take charge of 30 soldiers. Then, you’ll begin the specialist training you need to be an expert in your chosen field, whether that’s engineering, intelligence gathering, or piloting an Apache helicopter. You’ll also take part in Adventurous Training around the world, from skiing in the Alps to white-water rafting in Colorado. All while you’re earning at starting salary of £33,183 while you’re in training, then £39,671 when your training is complete.
