Established in 1990, Pear Tree provides a unique therapeutic environment to help children and young people recover from adverse childhood experiences.
We are looking for caring and empathetic individuals to join our team as Residential Social Care Workers, supporting children and young people in our six small, but well-established homes.
While previous experience is preferable, it is not essential. What matters most is that you share our core values: integrity, responsibility, respect, courage, and kindness. We are seeking individuals who are motivated, resilient, enthusiastic, and who have hobbies or skills that can add value to the lives of the young people we support.
What we need from you and what you will be doing
Joining our team means becoming an important part of a young person’s life. As a Residential Social Care Worker, you will play a fundamental role in helping children recover from childhood trauma and breaking the cycle of abuse. High standards in behaviour are expected and we need individuals who are committed to re-parenting the children towards becoming capable young adults. While the role can be challenging, it is also hugely rewarding and filled with many moments of significant job satisfaction.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Safeguard and protect children in all aspects of their daily lives, ensuring their safety and well-being.
* Providing daily care to the children and ensuring the smooth running of the home.
* Helping children prepare for school, accompanying them to Pear Tree School when required, and assisting with homework.
* Completing general household domestic tasks such as cleaning and cooking.
* Completing necessary paperwork to document and evidence the vital work we carry out.
* Organising and participating in meaningful activities with our children and young people.
Evenings and weekends are dedicated to recreational and, where possible, therapeutic activities to help build secure attachments with our children and young people. These activities not only provide meaningful experiences and memories for the children but also create an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment for our team.
At Pear Tree, we adopt a marginal gains approach, focusing on understanding each individual’s needs and celebrating small steps of progress. We believe these incremental successes lead to significant positive changes, helping children grow in confidence and develop aspirations for a brighter future.
Benefits include:
* Competitive Salary:
- £27,000 per year prior to completing the QCF Level 3 Diploma Residential Childcare.
- £30,000 per year upon completion of QCF Level 3 Diploma Residential Childcare.
