Maintenance Technician (Electrical)
To assist in the efficient operation of the M25 Tunnels by undertaking maintenance and other tasks as required by the Shift Manager.
This is a 4 days on - 4 days off, 12-hour shift, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off.
The Role:
1. When authorised, carry out switching on Connect Plus Services 11kV.
2. Carry out Planned Maintenance and defect repair work on a range of electrical equipment which includes Switchgear, Transformers, Pumps, Fans, VSDs, lighting, and associated control gear.
3. Repair and maintenance of the traffic safety system on the approach to the Dartford tunnels including sensors, barriers, and traffic signals.
4. Read drawings and carry out fault finding and repairs without supervision.
5. Carry out all types of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance work within the capacity of an Electrical Technician with or without direct supervision.
6. Carry out any work of a manual, semi-skilled or skilled nature of any type of trade description (including “out of trade” work) under the instructions of the Shift Manager.
7. Drive vehicles as required, for maintenance purposes.
8. Any other duties within the capacity of a Maintenance Technician as required by the Line Managers.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship.
2. Relevant qualifications e.g. City & Guilds.
3. Current Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (18th Edition are Current).
Card holder (or willing to undertake Training) in:
1. Authorised Person an advantage - HV (desirable).
2. MEWPS.
3. Confined spaces training.
4. Inspection & Testing C&G 2391.
5. CSCS Safety Card.
6. IPAF.
7. PASMA.
8. G39 (DNO EQUIPMENT).
9. Working at Height (Harness Training).
10. First Aid.
Experience:
1. Knowledge and experience of generators and switchgear to 11KV (Desirable).
2. Fault finding using schematic drawings.
3. All-round experience in Electrical Maintenance.
4. Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
5. Ability to carry out electrical installation work to current legislation.
