We are looking for a Visitor Experience Manager to ensure that every one of our visitors to our Burton Mere Wetlands has a high-quality visitor experience. The Dee Estuary is one of the RSPB’s largest and most diverse reserves spanning over 6000 hectares straddling the England-Wales border. Our habitats range from tidal saltmarsh, mudflats, sand dune and shingle beach to the freshwater reedbed, wet grassland and ancient woodland at Burton Mere Wetlands, where our increasingly popular visitor facilities serve as the gateway to the estuary’s impressive wildlife spectacles. What is the role about? We need you to warmly welcome, enthuse about wildlife and encourage support for the work of the RSPB. You will manage a full event programme and assist in delivering activities and events in a fun and innovative way. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is keen to develop and grow in visitor engagement and events management. You will: Ensure the reserve is delivering a high quality visitor experience. Monitor and achieve against agreed targets and KPI’s for income generation, quality of visit and footfall targets for the reserve. Ensure the reserve delivers a high quality, on brand experience that converts visits into active support and contributes to the RSPB’s Saving Nature Strategy. Proactively promote and enhance the offer to visitors to increase footfall and repeat visits. Recruit and lead a team of volunteers and staff to deliver a joined up, coherent and high quality visitor experience for all visitors to the reserve. Contribute to the leadership, planning and efficient day to day running of the visitor operation that contributes to the overall success of the reserve Essential skills, knowledge & experience: Working knowledge of visitor engagement techniques. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback. Ability to maximise opportunities for visitor engagement and income generation. Experience of managing and delivering targets and KPI’s. Successful experience of managing a team of staff and/or volunteers. Ability and willingness to work flexibly including weekends and occasional evenings This is a Permanent, Full Time role for 37.5 hours per week.
