Accounts Assistant
Oakwood Youth Challenge, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG40 3DA
Reporting to: Financial Controller
Working Hours: 20 hours per week
Working pattern: Monday – Friday, ideally 4 hours per day (negotiable)
Place of Work: All working hours will be office-based at Oakwood for the first three months. Following the successful completion of the probation period, a hybrid working arrangement may be considered, subject to mutual agreement.
Actual Salary Range: £14,286 - £15,143 per annum, depending on experience, based on an FTE salary of £25,000 - £26,500 (pro-rata)
About Oakwood
Oakwood is a Christian charity comprising Oakwood Outdoor, a residential activity centre, and Oakwood Climbing Centre. Our aim is to provide an environment where individuals of all abilities can progress physically, socially and spiritually.
The Role
We are currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join the Oakwood team. The Accounts Assistant will play an integral role within our accounts team, helping to ensure that the department functions smoothly and that there is accuracy and efficiency in all areas. This is an office-based part-time position, and you will be required to undertake a range of accounting tasks.
The ideal candidates will:
1. Have an AAT qualification or equivalent experience (essential)
2. Have previous professional experience in a similar role (essential)
3. Be IT literate and a proficient user of Microsoft Office (essential)
4. Have effective time management skills and excellent attention to detail (essential)
5. Have a can-do attitude and good communication skills (essential)
6. Have experience using an online accounting software package (preferably QuickBooks) (desirable)
Responsibilities include:
1. Overseeing the purchase ledger function, including:
* Downloading and coding invoices and credit notes, and inputting into ApprovalMax.
* Capturing of invoices for payment (online banking)
* Reconciliation of supplier statements
1. Credit Card control, including:
* Ensuring all documentation is received from card holders, and each transaction is allocated correctly.
* Capturing in ApprovalMax and ensure approval is obtained.
1. Assist with sales and debtors, including:
* Raising invoices and credit notes
* Receipting BACS payments against debtor’s accounts
* Weekly email reminders to overdue and almost due debtors, and chasing late payments
1. Supporting the Financial Controller with:
* Ad-hoc queries, reports and analysis
* Accounts related issues
* Production of the monthly financial report
