We are looking for a new colleague to join the Thoracic Surgery team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS trust as a consultant thoracic surgeon.

We are looking for a new colleague who will help to develop our clinical programmes including advanced minimal access surgery, surgical robotics, complex endobronchial treatment and trauma. We are currently seeing a significant increase in activity following the introduction of lung cancer screening in the South West.
The post is primarily based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Outreach clinics are a mixture of virtual and face to face sessions in hospitals including Cheltenham, Taunton and Bath.
The Thoracic Surgery team consists of 5 consultant surgeons, supported by a team of senior clinical fellows and cardiothoracic trainees together with dedicated thoracic nurse specialists.
We anticipate that the successful candidate will contribute to the academic, research and teaching work of the department.
The successful applicant will be expected to undertake the full range of pulmonary and mediastinal surgery at established levels of modern practice in line with both contemporary national guidelines and local policy. The post holder will be expected to support lung cancer and other MDTs throughout the region as laid out in their job plan. They will work with colleagues to provide the urgent and emergency thoracic surgical service to our referring hospitals, including to the adult and paediatric major trauma centres. All consultants undertake clinics and MDTs at both UHBW and at our regional referring hospitals. Clinics are a mix of face-to-face and virtual format.
