Job Description:
This contract position involves working with our dedicated automotive clients to deliver a programme for a prestigious automotive manufacturer that produces exciting vehicles for worldwide distribution.
The project engineering role will be responsible for defining and feasibility of interior/exterior/functional components, leading to their full development, testing, and release for a new model in the automotive sector.
You will work in a dynamic environment, delivering commodities at pace and to a high quality. Your responsibilities will include:
* Establishing and planning meetings to ensure cross-functional representation and input from relevant areas.
* Defining feasibility for initial project scope features with your team, then designing, delivering, and releasing exterior commodities.
* Compiling engineering development/commodity timing plans for each component.
* Communicating delivery progress to the EES Project Lead on a regular basis.
* Ensuring programme timing objectives are met.
* Identifying risks to the programme and proposing mitigation measures.
* Supporting vehicle builds with parts at the required level.
* Addressing and closing off issues at each key gateway of the project.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* Mechanical and interior/exterior/functional experience.
* Experience in product feasibility, requirements definition, system design, and system testing.
* Proven project engineering capability, demonstrated by recent on-time and budget delivery.
* Previous delivery of interior/exterior/functional accessory components using various project delivery processes.
* Supplier management skills.
Desirable Skills:
Possessing the following skills would be beneficial:
* Parts design and release.
* Delivering new or modified exterior systems for large OEM production.
* FEA Analysis.
* Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Qualification.
* Working knowledge of change management processes and RMDV requirements.
Essential Skills:
You will need to possess the following essential skills:
* CAD Literacy: ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data.
* Ability to generate CAD data using Catia v5/6.
* Experience with JIRA toolset and AGILE methodologies.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Self-motivation.
Education:
You must be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical Engineering/Design Engineering field.
