ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
East Staffordshire Borough Council is committed to creating a safe environment for those within the Borough and is looking to recruit a Temporary ASB Enforcement Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of three Officers dealing with a wide remit from environmental crime and licensing enforcement, including licensed vehicles and premises, to anti-social behaviour.
The Temporary ASB Enforcement Officer's role is to provide a responsive, customer-focused service that helps improve local environmental quality in relation to Anti-Social Behaviour.
The ASB Officer will be required to respond to service requests from members of the public, internal departments, stakeholders such as the Police and Council Members in an efficient and timely manner, managing their own workload. Officers are required to undertake investigations and the appropriate enforcement action as necessary.
You should have excellent communication skills along with the ability to accurately record information for reports and witness statements, particularly as Officers are required to respond to clients and present evidence in court.
You must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle as the role requires Officers to cover the whole of the East Staffordshire Borough.
The successful candidate must have 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade A to C or equivalent. Certificated qualifications in Anti-Social Behaviour enforcement would be desirable.
Applicants should ideally have previous experience of working in a Local Authority environment, working with residents, Council Members, and other stakeholders, and have experience in complaint investigation and resolution.
Basic IT skills are essential along with an understanding of applicable law and practice, and a willingness to keep up to date with legislation.
It is essential to be observant and have the ability to record information accurately during an investigation, remaining calm, polite, and helpful when dealing with potentially difficult situations.
The hours of work are 22.5 hours per week, working 3 days to be agreed.
East Staffordshire Borough Council has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Basic Level Disclosure & Barring Service Check.
