Kent County Council Kent County Council’s Finance Division is looking for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to join our team of Finance Business Partners, who all play a pivotal role in providing strategic financial advice, support and challenge that really makes a difference to the services we support. This is an exciting time to join the County Council as it strengthens its financial resilience and corporate governance and undertakes radical service change through implementing Oracle Cloud. The role supports central directorates, which includes key support services such as infrastructure, IT, HR, Finance, Law, Policy and Procurement. The Finance Business Partner will build direct working relationships with elected Cabinet members, the Chief Executive, Corporate Directors and Directors to support the strategic ambitions of the Council and its central services. The role is one of the most senior roles within the Finance service, reporting to Head of Finance Policy Planning & Strategy, who in turn reports directly to the Council’s Section 151 officer. There are no direct staff reports, but you will oversee and co-ordinate the work of professional staff in other finance teams, as part of providing financial advice that will influence the Council’s strategic direction of travel. This role gives a unique opportunity for someone who wants to apply their extensive knowledge, experience and capacity for strategic thinking in supporting the Council to develop innovative transformation, with the aim of improving outcomes at lower cost. This vacancy is being advertised as a permanent position following the retirement of the existing post holder, full-time (37 hours per week), and will be based at Maidstone, although the team currently operates hybrid working arrangements involving some office and home working.
