As Pack Change Technologist you will have an important part in Twinings lean, performance focused and innovative New Product Development team. Responsible for delivery of the design and print initiatives related to Twinings New Product Development and brand redesign projects across our markets, you will be someone who strives for excellence in delivery, is avid about quality and with a commercial mindset, creates pieces of packaging that consumers love. You will be a passionate expert about packaging, continually looking to drive core packaging and print inspiration to further competitive advantage and future brand growth. You will need to work across and manage a number of internal stakeholders, within markets, our Tea Supply Chain colleagues and with our New Product Development team. You will also induct and manage the relationship with design agencies, ensuring they are aligned to deliver alongside us. Balancing the market wants against the commercial needs of the business you deliver brilliant customer service for the markets but will challenge where needed to get to the best solution for the business. Key Responsibilities Take the lead for Design to Print within New Product Development projects. The scope of these projects will include new product launches, full brand redesigns, optimisation and sustainability project, with the aim of 'Right First Time'. Deliver multi-market packaging projects, to deliver the artwork process from initial design concepts and ideas to full packaging roll out ensuring that artwork requirements are fully evaluated and delivered. For agreed projects, take Workstream Lead role from packaging brief through to launch. Manage assigned workstreams to enable implementation and support business and personal growth. Identify and implement Continuous Process Improvement opportunities in Twinings print and Design to print process to raise the bar in all areas to achieve quality balanced with commercial needs. Identify and implement, where possible, harmonisation of materials to reduce complexity and cost within the supply chain. Scope and identify requirements for new Material Evaluation Request for all new specifications which require costing. Collaborate with Marketing, Procurement and Packaging Technologists to identify attributes for costing purposes. Ensure a full range of requirements are costed in order to provide best in class information for decision making. Build costing and origination budgets for agreed projects to ensure financial viability and transparency Lead the induction of new design agencies into the business to create positive working relationships and alignment in ways of working Support Tea Supply Chain teams with the delivery and implementation of optimisation projects, including Supplier transfer projects, that improve efficiency and reduce cost. Manage and lead all communications on artwork critical paths, actions and timelines, follow up approvals and escalate, where necessary. Identify risks to Design to Print delivery and work with stakeholders to mitigate these risks. Work closely with Packaging Technologists to agree trial parameters, CSFs and provide support in communicating decisions to the wider business. Lead all relevant packaging and artwork related meetings from design finalisation through to acceptance of files. This includes external pre-production meetings to ensure alignment is gained across all involved parties. Create technical repro briefs for all Design to Print projects. Conduct technical review and assessment of all repro files and ensure all actions associated with repro are completed in a timely manner to achieve print quality to the agreed standards. Work collaboratively with external stakeholders to provide the identification of print and finish opportunities and inspiration. Provide insight to Packaging Innovation Manager to influence market ideation and thinking. Ensure all technical queries relating to packaging are addressed in a timely fashion to enable effective delivery of projects. Assess design concepts and ideas to provide feedback on feasibility. Support marketing functions with technical advice for any queries related to design/ printing. Proactively seek out latest print technologies to become a technical expert and ensure that Twinings optimises approach and adopts best practice. Build a network of internal and external parties (e.g. – Repro agency, Design agencies, packaging suppliers, consultants, packaging agencies, internal Regulatory teams, brand Marketing teams, Packaging Engineers, procurement and wider Supply Chain) who can support to deliver Twinings business performance. Collaborate closely with the other packaging team members across the business as a holistic packaging team to educate and inform in areas of new packaging. Act as role model for Twinings' Innovation Behaviours Skills, Knowledge And Expertise Experience within FMCG packaging development, usually within an NPD function Experience in structural and design packaging development process Extensive knowledge of artwork design and repro process including DAM and web based artwork management systems Experience in packaging design / development Commercial exposure to support delivery of successful NPD projects Project management experience with a proven history of consistently delivering printed packaging solutions Technical knowledge of packaging construction, artwork design and print development process Knowledge in material manufacturing and converting, product/packaging interaction, barrier properties Knowledge of all packaging print processes Good understanding of packaging line trials Computer literate in Microsoft packages Real focus on 'Aim Higher' in order to challenge and invigorate to get the best output Unquenchable 'Look Outside' curiosity about our markets, their business and categories as well as packaging Ability to build positive relationships across other functions to create a positive working ethos that moves the business agenda forward Creative thinker and flexible approach to problem solving.
