The post holder will have a visible presence in the Trust representing the Patient Safety Team and be responsible for ensuring effective, timely and proportionate responses to patient safety incidents, by working collaboratively and proactively with CMG colleagues in accordance with Trust, National and Commissioner’s policies and good practice. The post holder will oversee the Patient Safety Managers and support them in providing more senior Trust-wide support, ensuring high quality reviews and effective learning and improvement. The post holder will work autonomously as a Patient Safety Lead with support from the Head of Patient Safety when required. The post holder will line manage the Patient Safety Managers and deputise for the Head of Patient Safety when required. The post holder will also oversee the Patient Safety Team in ensuring all Trust staff have the specialist knowledge and skills to improve patient safety through the continuous development and delivery of patient safety training, teaching and leading by example in the facilitation of incident reviews. The post holder will maintain the patient safety incident response process in the Trust ensuring it is in accordance with National and Trust policy, strategy and recognised good practice. The post holder will lead and continuously support the establishment of meaningful patient involvement in the Trust’s implementation of the PSIRF. The post holder will oversee the team to involve and engage compassionately and effectively with patients, families, staff and others affected by patient safety incidents as part of incident review processes where there may also be barriers to understanding and conflicting views requiring tact and persuasion to consider wider system factors.
