Job Title: Medical Affairs Associate
As a Medical Affairs Associate, you will provide critical scientific support to the organisation, contributing to the knowledge and communication of disease and product areas. This role involves collaborating closely with sales, marketing, and commercial teams to ensure the seamless integration of medical insights into business strategies, all while adhering to ABPI and ABHI compliance codes. With a strong understanding of disease areas and the NHS environment, you will deliver training, respond to scientific queries, and develop medical education materials that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
* Create high-quality scientific content for projects such as manuscripts, abstracts/posters, congress materials, and meeting reports, often under tight deadlines.
* Represent the medical team at conferences and external meetings, offering support as required.
* Assist the Head of Medical Affairs in delivering key medical affairs projects.
* Ensure high-quality, timely communication with HCPs and stakeholders.
* Manage or support communication campaigns, ensuring alignment with medical strategies.
* Monitor budgets and maintain accurate cost tracking for medical projects.
Key responsibilities:
* Maintain advanced knowledge of disease areas and products including competitors, ensuring information is presented in a balanced, evidence-based, and fair manner to KOLs and HCPs.
* Effectively deliver clinical and scientific presentations in line with ABPI/PMCPA codes, tailored to various audiences.
* Respond promptly and accurately to medical information queries initiated by HCPs or internal teams.
* Provide therapeutic area, product knowledge, and compliance training to internal staff.
* Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including KOLs, to support the organisation's strategic objectives.
* Contribute to field-based and office-based medical affairs plans and initiatives.
Duties:
* Stay current with scientific literature, conducting regular reviews and critical appraisals.
* Deliver compliant and balanced presentations on medical and product-related topics to internal and external audiences.
* Present to healthcare professionals, adhering to relevant guidelines.
* Attend scientific meetings, congresses, and symposia to gather insights and share knowledge.
* Build professional relationships with clinical experts to enable future collaborations.
* Identify and pursue opportunities for external research partnerships aligned with the company’s medical strategy.
* Support clinical research efforts, including audits or trials, when required.
* Provide training to internal and external stakeholders on medical/scientific topics.
* Respond to unsolicited medical information requests with accurate, evidence-based replies.
* Organise and participate in national medical advisory boards to facilitate information exchange.
* Develop and implement a medical affairs plan aligned with strategic goals.
* Ensure adherence to SOPs and maintain compliance with industry standards.
* Provide medical expertise to support market access and materials review.
Skills:
* Degree in life sciences or related fields.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Affairs/ Medical Communications/ Medical Education (essential)
* Strong knowledge of relevant disease areas and therapy landscapes.
* Familiarity with local regulations and scientific education best practices.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations.
* Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional networks.
* Highly motivated, with a strong ability to process and communicate complex scientific content.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
* Advanced presentation skills and expertise in evaluating scientific literature.
