About the Role: An opportunity has arisen in the Molecular Pathology Department for an MLA to work in our new Automated Molecular Pathology (AMP) laboratory at the Halo Building in Central London. The Molecular Pathology Department is a multidisciplinary team of Molecular Geneticists, Heam Oncologists and Virologists. The AMP section is a high-throughput laboratory undertaking a range of molecular testing including for sexual health and blood borne viruses. This is a full-time position based in the sample receipt area in the AMP laboratory. The successful applicant will be responsible for unpacking, tracking, receipt, organisation and distribution of samples. They will receive, and where necessary, act upon, incoming calls to the laboratory and communicate with colleagues and clients to resolve any discrepancies or omissions on assay request paperwork. This role is paramount to the smooth running of the department. The successful applicant will also be expected to help in the wider Automated Molecular Pathology lab as required. We are looking for someone who is positive and proactive. A science degree or equivalent and attention to detail is essential and laboratory experience in healthcare is desirable, but full training will be provided. Where opportunities arise within the department, training for Biomedical Scientists and Clinical Scientists is supported for suitable candidates with sufficient experience. The successful applicant will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 17:00 or 9:00 to 17:30 although flexibility may be required.
