Job Purpose To work as part of the operational team providing arboriculture support and technical experience, including the use of specialist IT systems to assist with the management, inspection and control of tree stock from inspections through to completion of maintenance. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Environmental Technician the Tree Surveyor will be responsible for the administration and support of the organisation's asset management system, PSS (trees). Using the system, to undertake surveys and specify necessary works to be issued to the term contractor, generate regular management reports and statistics, as well as producing prioritised work plans and progress monitoring. You will be confident in undertaking tree surveys for risk management purposes, recording observations and making work recommendations. Respond to customer enquiries, undertaking site meetings and site inspections in order to answer the queries within corporate guidelines. A high standard of accuracy, quality and customer care shall be maintained at all times to ensure that services are delivered, and any problems resolved within the terms of the Service Level Agreement. Person Specification Skills/Abilities Numerate and literate to good standard. GCSE grade A-C / O level. Well organised, self-motivated and able to prioritise a changing workload to meet deadlines. Good IT skills including Excel, Powerpoint, MS Word, and email. Excellent observation and decision-making skills able to make expert recommendations on tree issues Excellent communication skills in verbal and written form. Ability to maintain and build upon third party, internal and external relationships in line with Council policies. (desirable) Experience at presenting tree information in a formal environment such as a committee meeting (desirable) Knowledge Knowledge of and competency using databases such as PSS (Trees) and GIS systems, Kaarbon Tech (not essential) Carryout tree inspections and provide written reports. Identify and take the appropriate action to deal with defected or failing trees. Understanding of frontline operational services, ideally to include tree, parks and playground services. Understanding the principles of performance and compliance management Demonstrable previous relevant industry experience is desirable. Qualifications GCSE Maths & English Technical Certificate Arboricultral Association Level 3 or equivalent Full UK Driving Licence Personal Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must have ability to work as part of a team to achieve the company goals. Must have a flexible ‘’Can Do’’ approach to support the smooth running of the services. Ability to work under pressure and deliver demanding objectives. Willingness to undertake further training.
