Senior Business Development Manager - Energy Storage - United Kingdom
We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to work within the UK or Italy and our European growth markets. You will be accountable for leading energy Storage Sales for cross-functional teams. You will have a leading role to ensure we have predictable and profitable sales, thus meaning that sales margins - with the right pricing strategies and accurate cost estimations - are in favour of Wärtsilä, and project execution is predictable.
You will be reporting to the Area Sales Director.
The preferred location is the UK or Italy
Responsibilities:
1. Lead energy storage sales opportunities
2. Ensure qualitative sales and proper sales margins all the way to the project execution.
3. Ensure correct pricing strategies and accurate cost estimations
4. Lead the large stakeholder group and project sales team towards the goals
5. Utilise S&OP data as a base when assessing the correct cost estimations and schedules
6. Ensure tenders and requirements are understood in detail within the project sales team and high-quality tenders are prepared
7. Ensure risks are evaluated correctly
8. Ensure necessary internal reviews are conducted and acceptances received
9. Ensure Wärtsilä contracting policies are followed and proper contract terms are achieved
10. Lead the contract negotiations and contracting process. Prepare winning sales negotiation strategy.
11. Manage and maintain key account customer relationships.
12. Manage, follow up and report the progress of sales project and CRM (Salesforce) data accuracy
13. Ensure proper sales documentation and closing the deal
14. Ensure sales project is properly transferred to project execution
15. Drive Wärtsilä purpose and demonstrate Wärtsilä values
Requirements:
16. 10 yrs. exp. in the utility-scale renewable energy industry, with a strong preference toward candidates with prior battery energy storage experience
17. Promotes and never sacrifices safety
18. Is a senior sales leader with a strong track record of leading high-performing cross-functional teams and is solution orientated
19. Has a strong track record of negotiating complex sales projects
20. Contractual and risk management understanding
21. Visible influencing and communications skills especially when working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
22. Leads by example and enables collaboration across organisations
23. Broad understanding of energy storage business, solutions, and future market outlook
24. Has commercial and customer mindset combined with a structural approach
25. Outstanding team player and excellent coaching skills
26. Drives results with excellent skills in planning and leading the change and execution
27. Inspires people to take actions towards the future goals
28. Appreciates diversity and is able to build psychological safety and inclusion to the organisation
29. Drives Wärtsilä purpose and demonstrates Wärtsilä values, customer success, passion, performance
30. Fluent in Italian is required
31. Spanish langauge also a preference
