We are searching for a Buying Director to lead the NET-A-PORTER Buy Team. This senior and industry-leading role presents you with the opportunity to drive the business from a commercial and creative standpoint. With a strong buying-led retail background in luxury fashion you will take fiscal responsibility for the entire buy, setting the direction and strategy. Some of the essentials for you to know are:

Here is a breakdown of what you'll be doing:
* P&L accountability across the buy (sales, stock, margin).
* Direct the buy to deliver business targets whilst remaining true to NAP's DNA: leading with an opinionated edit - commercial yet forward and exhibiting the right vendor mix.
* Ensure the direction and breadth of our offer is correctly balanced for our customer profiles.
* Challenge internal functions (e.g. Finance and Merchandising) on seasonal and yearly budgets (OTB) and the MD strategy, sales targets and margins at both a global and regional level, protecting the desire for our competitive edge in our product mix.
* Oversee designer brand growth in relation to general NAP growth and targeted geographic growth plans, know when to drop Brands and take calculated risks.
* Ensure the team are identifying new up and coming brands relevant to our mix that ensures NAP is the 'go to' luxury fashion retailer.
* Devise future growth plans of the business with the introduction of new categories in a thoughtful and relevant manner.
* Work directly with the Regional GMs to ensure we have a relevant local buy strategy as well as the correct regional inventory where relevant.
* Strategically work with our key brands towards long term growth.
* Special projects acquisition (e.g. exclusives) and conception that keep NAP ahead of the competition and push the retailing boundaries while maximizing sales potential.
* Develop a compelling retail calendar for both BAU and exclusives working with key stakeholders to deliver.
* Work with the Head of Regional Planning to support pricing and product strategy through relevant marketing activities.
* Challenge B&M teams to ensure right mix of product, designer and category at all times.
* Approve seasonal buy budget and plans.
* Collaborate with the Buying Director of Mr Porter to ensure a coherent and consistent approach to our brands and customers.
* Be an ambassador for the NAP business; forming strong relationships with established and emerging brands.
* Oversee and guide annual and seasonal buying budget to meet business plan and goals.
* Oversee the negotiation of key trading terms and conditions with the brands.
* Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including key industry partners and brands to ensure NAP is the market leading retailer.
* Speak at relevant industry events, to promote NAP in all targets markets, drive new business and goodwill within the industry.
Team Management:
* Determine and clearly communicate the vision, strategy and objectives for the team, ensuring they are aligned and engaged with the business priorities.
* Provide leadership to the NAP Buying team - you will inspire, engage and motivate them. Proactively manage training and team performance.
* Develop and deliver organizational and cultural change where relevant.
* Develop a strong management team below you - ensuring they allocate resources and effectively prioritize business needs.
* Review and approve departmental operating plans with direct reports.

Experience and Skills:
* Have extensive commercial experience in luxury fashion retailing, within a multi-brand environment. Exceptionally strong customer focus with excellent stakeholder management experience.
* Proven ability to independently lead, organize and deliver on-time and within budget.
* Bring a clear vision of what good looks like in luxury fashion to include your team, processes, and product.
* You will be experienced in making things happen in a complex and fast-moving environment and while ensuring quality and delivery for your internal and external customers and brands.
* Have a successful track record of taking an established team to the next level, in an operationally challenging environment. You will be able to demonstrate that you can stretch standards of performance and people in a complex environment by driving change.
* Ability to straddle between big picture strategic leadership and having the necessary attention to detail in planning and delivery.
