Assistant Perinatal Practitioner/Family Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has occurred to join CWP's Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team as a Family Support Worker for 9 months fixed term to cover maternity leave (18.75 hours a week). We are seeking an individual with a genuine interest in working with women and families in the perinatal period, who has excellent communication and multi-agency liaison skills and a good knowledge of safeguarding. Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable but not essential.

Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will actively work with families and carers in their home and in the community, offering practical support and advice based on the identified needs of service users and their children.
The post is fixed term for 9 months to cover maternity leave and for 18.75 hours a week. The team's core working hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Access to transport for work purposes is required.
Successful applicants will be located within the CWP Team, with the main base at Pioneer Business Park, Ellesmere Port. However, as the team covers the whole of the CWP footprint and four maternity units, the successful post holder may be expected to travel across the region and will be part of our agile working team. This specific post's caseload will predominantly be in the West Cheshire area.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in a subject relevant to Health, Social Care and/or child development
* Demonstrate commitment to ongoing training and development.
* Good standard of general education including English and Maths to GCSE grade C or above or equivalent.
* Foundation Degree in Health Care
Knowledge and Expertise
* Clinical skills and competency relevant to the role.
* Ability to support clients in crisis.
* Knowledge and understanding of child development.
* Record keeping & report writing skills, including IT skills to manage electronic patient notes.
* Understanding of issues relating to safeguarding of vulnerable groups.
* Awareness of clinical governance.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of confidentiality and diversity issues.
* Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Ability to deliver training to other professionals, service users, and carers.
* Knowledge and understanding of attachment and bonding.

Experience
* Experience of person-centred planning and approaches to care.
* Experience in a health or social care setting with service users and/or families with complex needs.
* Demonstrate how to implement clinical care/care packages.
* Post qualification experience of working with children, young people, and their families.

* Recent experience of working with parents/families/children.
* Experience of contributing to appropriate risk management/child protection plans.
* Experience of working with clients in recovery from serious mental health issues.
* Experience in a health-related care setting with service users experiencing severe and enduring mental health.
