An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team at Macclesfield District General Hospital. We have a 0.6WTE permanent vacancy but more hours may be available in the future.
You will join our welcoming and forward-thinking team to deliver high-quality care to patients with communication and swallowing disorders in the hospital acute ward setting. You will have experience of working with adults with a range of complex conditions and be competent in the assessment and management of dysphagia and communication disorders. Enthusiastic and motivated, you will be confident liaising with a range of health care professionals and foster effective MDT working. The successful candidate will be developed to acquire skills in videofluoroscopy and there will be the opportunity to participate in FEES clinics once established in the role.
On successful application, you will join a well-established, friendly team with a wide range of expertise. We operate out of one office in Macclesfield District General Hospital so you will be well supported in a nurturing team environment. You will engage in staff supervision and training and there will be opportunities for development within the Trust. Our priority is on patient-centred, holistic care and we understand the importance of supporting staff to develop their skills and interests.

Job Summary:
1. To work as an autonomous clinician to provide specialist speech and language therapy to a high standard through appropriate assessment, and accurate analysis and clinical reasoning in order to interpret, diagnose as appropriate, set goals and provide treatment for patients with a range of complex neurological, head and neck and long-term conditions delivering therapy in the most appropriate environment for the patient e.g. in-patient wards, outpatient clinic, home, nursing homes.
2. To use specialist knowledge and skills to contribute to the multidisciplinary case management to ensure appropriate pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies as required embracing neighbourhood team philosophies.
3. To support and contribute to the operational delivery of specialist services and the development of initiatives, ensuring consistent service delivery with other clinical specialist services.
