Purpose of Job:
The purpose of this job is to provide welding engineer support under the direction of the Study Manager – Materials Engineering.
This involves a lead engineer role for welding technology, covering consultancy in welding engineering, weld procedure and weld qualification review, and witnessing of weld preparation and testing. Provide a lead role in Genesis projects with Clients in Welding Engineering for FEED, EPC and engineering support projects covering Upstream, Downstream, Renewables, Low Carbon Energy Markets, and New Markets.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Lead Welding Engineer activities
2. Witness and approve welding practice, weld procedure qualification, and testing at Client/Supplier locations
3. Management of internal and external client interface
4. Preparation of project engineering documents
5. Support and promote development of best practice
6. Work with, coordinate work, and support other Welding Engineers at Genesis
Qualifications & Experience:
The job holder must have:
1. BSc/BEng in Materials Science or similar
2. Chartered Welding Engineer Status (typically CEng)
3. Extensive experience as a welding engineer within the Energy Sector
4. Good communicator and strong team player
Required Competencies:
1. Demonstrated competency and experience in welding technology, application of welding, welding and welder qualification, and performance assessment in the energy sector.
2. Witnessing of welding production practice, weld procedure qualification, and materials testing
3. Familiarity with industry standards is essential; familiarity with Shell Welding DEPs is desirable
4. Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external clients
5. Work independently in a team environment and support multiple project responsibilities
6. Assist in the application and maintenance of engineering processes, systems, and tools (software)
7. Good computer literacy with particular competence in MS Office software.
8. Full command of the English language, written and spoken
