We have an exciting job opportunity for a speech and language therapist with already established skills, or anyone looking to develop their interest in Head & Neck and Voice Disorders. You will join a well-established and respected speech and language therapy department comprising services across Trust locations in Sussex.
Due to service re-organisation and promotion, an opportunity has arisen for a joint specialist post in H& N cancer and ENT/voice disorders services across the Trust. You'll be joining a supportive and innovative SLT team working closely with ENT, OMFS and Oncology services and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver clinical services as per our Patient First programme.
Main duties of the job
This job involves participation in our regular Joint Voice and SLT led endoscopy clinics, participating in FEES and videofluoroscopy clinics, where appropriate. We have well-established online services to patients and there is flexibility to deliver a significant proportion of assessment and therapy in this role virtually.
There are opportunities to work in innovative ENT laryngology clinics and be involved in developing new projects e.g. laryngeal dysfunction with the respiratory MDT. This post requires experience of independent working and management of caseloads; although experience in ENT and H& N is desirable, we are happy to support a developing specialist and are committed to developing the knowledge and skills of a candidate who can demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in this area. You will have dysphagia skills to level 5 EDSC.
Comprehensive supervision will be provided from the relevant clinical and service leads and there are excellent CPD opportunities within our SLT Department including opportunities for training and supervising SLT and ENT colleagues.
Your main base will be at the ENT outpatient department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with clinical input and supervision across the county.
We welcome all enquiries and pre-interview discussions/virtual tours regarding the post and your developing interests: Please contact Alexa Hollis: alexahollis@nhs.net, Samantha Wallace: swallace@nhs.net for further information.
