About us
Booker Park is a member of the Vale Federation of Special Schools, together with the secondary and post-16 school Stocklake Park. With 243 pupils currently on roll, Booker Park caters for primary aged children with a broad diversity of complex needs including profound and multiple, severe and moderate learning difficulties. Almost half of the pupils have an additional diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition. We are fortunate enough to have wonderful facilities including two large halls, a computer suite, hydrotherapy pool, soft play room, an observational mirror room, dark room and sensory theatre. We have purpose built outdoor spaces including a MUGA (multi use games area), climbing castle, pirate ship and sensory path which are available to all pupils. We are close to bus and train links and on-site parking is available for all staff.
Reporting directly to the Head of School, the purpose of the role is to improve the life outcomes and opportunities for school-aged students and their families by providing a range of family support interventions and activities. The Family Support Officer will meet parents and families new to the school to identify any support that may be needed. They will deliver focused family support to improve the social, emotional development and health of pupils and their families. As part of the Safeguarding team you will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and heads of departments to keep students safe, help them achieve their full learning potential and support families in engaging with their children’s learning, development and well-being.

About you

You will take an active role in building effective relationships with students and their families and will be prepared to work hard to enable them to thrive and be the best they can. Liaising with relevant professionals and outside agencies, attending core group and child protection meetings, case conferences and multi-agency meetings is a key part of the role as is working closely with staff, planning, and delivering safeguarding training in order to achieve best outcomes for the students.
