Shepley Engineers, PPS Electrical and West Cumberland Engineering and operating as a subsidiary of Renew Holdings, the Shepley Group are at the forefront of UK contracting to the nuclear, energy and construction infrastructure sectors.
With over 700 colleagues across the businesses located from Whitehaven in Cumbria to sites across the UK including Manchester and Sheffield, they have successfully delivered multimillion-pound projects and contractor services, to highly regulated industries, not least operating as Sellafield’s longest serving contractor.

… The HR Manager will:
Report into the MD and be supported by two HR Advisors, with a truly generalist approach, supporting the leadership teams and management to deliver the people agenda; this is already in a good place and is ripe for development to further enhance HR operations, policy, process, development and management capability.
Building and developing strong stakeholder management, by enhancing and contributing to the senior teams adding value and positive insight
Strategic HR leadership aligned with business goals and objectives
Managing compliance in line with UK legislation and company policy
Oversee all recruitment and talent management from workforce and headcount planning to talent attraction and onboarding
Manage all employee relations within a unionised environment
Identify and develop existing training and development including early careers, apprenticeships and leadership capability
Implement performance management and review frameworks which are appropriate and manageable
Develop policies and procedures in line with legislation
Develop HR analytics for Group reporting and information
Develop compensation and reward strategies
We’re looking for a strong generalist, ideally with experience gained in both SME and larger more complex businesses in order to offer a practical as well as a strategic approach to HR. You should be suited to a pragmatic environment and able to bring a fresh perspective and ideas and as well drive, innovation and motivation.
Level 7 CIPD or HR degree or equivalent qualification
Experience gained within unionised environments ideally engineering, manufacturing, nuclear or similar
HR Team management and leadership capability
Comprehensive knowledge of ER, recruitment, performance management and training within unionised environments.
