Morson Talent are representing a leader within the UK Energy Sector who have a current requirement for a Project Manager to join their established team within the Equipment Programme. All work is associated with Europe's largest nuclear construction/infrastructure Project in Somerset. This is a (renewable) contract position, inside IR35. Job Purpose / Overview The Equipment Programme The Equipment Programme is responsible for delivering the bulk of the mechanical, electrical and process equipment that will form the working power station. The contracts may be for discrete components or complete systems and will be delivered in partnership with the global supply chain. Contracts range from £250k to £150m. Input design is completed by the Responsible Designer, with the detail design completed by the equipment supplier. The Equipment Programme includes design, manufacture, and supply of Tanks, Filters, Pumps and over 30,000 valves portfolio. Scope As a Project Manager, you will manage a contract or package of work supporting delivery of the tanks and filters, pumps or valves portfolio. You will be responsible for a Project that features: An internationally located matrix team of other disciplines forming the project delivery team – This could include line management responsibilities dependent on the role and will require international travel. Interaction with the parent company in France and the other site-based key stakeholders. The principles of a matrix organisation will still apply. This may involve the management of design (in France or UK), procurement, commercial and other functional resources of between 10 and 50 staff. Direct management of the equipment supplier. Direct accountability for contract management with values in the region of £250k to £150m Robust management of design change to mitigate impact on the live contracts. Financial governance and control of the contract Principal Accountabilities Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements. Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within the contract or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop, and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues to the Lead Project Manager. Undertake all contract administration activities (with support of a Commercial Manager) including variations, claims, technical queries and instructions. Provide sufficient oversight of the Tier 1's supply chain to ensure Nuclear Safety is maintained. This could involve over 100 Tier 2 and 3 international suppliers per contract Resolution of issues / NCR's (Non-Conformances) / etc during the manufacturing process to ensure quality and schedule are maintained. Management of all change to the contract including - scope definition, business justification and implementation of agreed change in line with associated governance. Ensure level 3 schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall Project schedules. Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders when executing the Project or Programme Execution Plan (PEP) strategies within their contract or package of work. Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement, ensuring that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual. Apply the principles of Earned Value Management (EVM) and other usual commercial reporting requirements Interface with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total Project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practices. Where applicable ensure that Qualification for Nuclear Safety activities are completed to validate the performance criteria of the equipment. Liaison with Site-based team to ensure all pre-shipping activities are completed to facilitate seamless delivery in line with schedule requirements. Assist in securing the required resources to meet their Project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within their project team. Ideal Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Typically, degree educated in Engineering or a related field. Demonstrated experience of delivering projects and managing contractors, consultants and other advisors within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility. (Ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment). Demonstrate success in managing / developing: Multi-discipline EPCM projects Procurement and management of complex contracts Control of costs risk schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations. Able to demonstrate strong skills and experience in project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Experience of NEC or FIDIC Contracts. Knowledge and/or practitioner of Project Management with experience of applying either APM methodologies or Prince 2. Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks. Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled. Understand how to apply a graded approach to quality Knowledge of CDM Regulations
