We have an great opportunity for a HR Advisor to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract to cover an upcoming maternity leave. This role is based on site at our manufacturing facility in Kingswinford, West Midlands and we expect the contract to last for 12-months.
This is a generalist role reporting to the HR Business Partner as part of a small UK HR Team. The role requires previous experience in generalist HR to be able to quickly pick up ways of working, enabling you to support key people processes, with a focus on employee relations and recruitment. We are also able to offer the opportunity to build on your skills and knowledge, with the chance to get involved in different projects, in a supportive environment. Whilst the role is fixed-term, we are committed to providing an opportunity to learn and develop during this time.
Main Responsibilities:
* One of the first points of contact for HR related queries including via the HR inbox, over the phone, in person and via Teams
* Employee relations: facilitating processes and providing support, advice and guidance to Line Managers on performance, absence, talent, discipline and grievance matters
* Managing recruitment projects including application tracking and candidate communication, supporting managers to find the right talent through an effective recruitment process
* Facilitating an effective onboarding process for new colleagues, helping everyone to feel welcomed, able to perform and with an appropriate induction and training experience
* Supporting the payroll process as needed including managing the time and attendance system to ensure accurate records are available to the payroll specialist
* Supporting with all HR activities, such as Engagement events and Loyal Service Awards
* Monitoring, reviewing and updating all HR policies to ensure they are in line with the current best practice and legislatively compliant
* Other administration to support effective people processes including monitoring attendance information, maintaining training records
Essential skills and experience:
* Previous experience of working in a HR role, with a generalist remit
* Demonstrates a strong moral code, with good understanding of the confidential and sometimes sensitive nature of HR activity
* A good understanding of Employment Law and the ability to apply this practically when advising on ER issues, with the confidence to guide and challenge managers appropriately
* Responsive, with good interpersonal skills and a professional manner even in potentially challenging or new situations
* Well-organised and able to prioritise work in accordance with deadlines
* Proactive and able to confidently suggest potential improvements
* A great team player, supporting colleagues and flexing to ensure the team meet our goals
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate work outputs
* A good telephone manner, with the ability to understand a caller’s requirements and direct them appropriately
