Warehouse Team Leader (Despatch) - Vet Direct Services
Vet Direct is a multi-functional shop for progressive veterinary practices; fulfilling consumable, uniform, instrument and equipment needs. Vet Direct is an important part of the CVS Group plc, an AIM listed, international integrated veterinary services provider.
We are excited to be recruiting for a Warehouse Team Leader (Despatch) who will be based at our warehouse in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Within this role, the successful applicant will:
1. Assist in the supervision of the daily running of a picking warehouse and associated systems.
2. Manage a busy despatch department & plan to ensure all orders are despatched daily OTDIF.
3. Deputise for management during periods of Holiday/Absence.
4. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
5. Ensure all relevant staff are trained in the Quality Manual, GDP practices and relevant SOPs.
Other Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Oversee daily warehouse operations under management direction.
2. Ensure accurate picking, packing, and order fulfillment.
3. Monitor and maintain stock of consumables for packing teams.
4. Use courier systems (e.g., DHL) for domestic and international shipping.
5. Track staff attendance and performance.
6. Conduct monthly check-ins and 1-1s to drive performance.
7. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.
8. Train and develop warehouse staff to meet role expectations.
9. Set and communicate company targets and objectives.
10. Support warehouse and IT process improvements.
11. Coordinate with internal teams.
12. Act as a key holder, responsible for opening/locking premises and occasional call-outs.
People Management:
1. Provide strong leadership and clear direction.
2. Foster teamwork, cooperation, and high performance.
3. Conduct regular staff check-ins and support goal achievement.
4. Address underperformance and recognize achievements.
Experience and Key Skills Required:
Essential:
1. Ability to challenge the ‘status quo', bringing a creative approach to solutions.
2. Good understanding of GDP, continuous improvement and strong people management skills.
3. Ability to create successful teams in a ‘can do' culture.
Desirable:
1. Exposure to collaboratively working with broader business functions.
2. Able to represent and act autonomously on behalf of the department.
3. Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Power Point, and Outlook.
4. Experience of WMS systems – Orderwise knowledge & the use of hand held scanners would be a distinct advantage.
