What you will do in your working day
* To work effectively within the Workshop team, following instruction to carry out training tasks set by workshop staff. Taking care to produce high quality work within set time parameters. To liaise appropriately with others in the team and customers using our facility
* To use equipment provided to carry out repair and diagnostics when trained to do so effectively to achieve cost effective maintenance and repair at all times
* To be able to fill out paper work pertaining to vehicle maintenance and repair, including working out system efficiencies such as percentage brake efficiency. To be able to understand engineering drawings, electrical schematics and to work from workshop manuals (initially training will be given)
* To be committed to maintaining very high Health & Safety standards, following risk assessments, good housekeeping procedures and policies
* To demonstrate a commitment to developing personal skills in accordance with the apprenticeship framework. A commitment to giving time to attend extra manufacturers courses where they may be offered
* To be prepared to work to a shift rotational system
* To meet deadlines associated to progression throughout the full apprenticeship period
* To complete assignments / projects which relate to the apprenticeship standard
The training you will be getting
You will gain and develop skills in all aspects of motor vehicle, horticultural and related plant equipment repair and maintenance within the municipal domain, whilst working towards an agreed level 3 academic qualification in motor vehicle repair.
You will attend Darlington College once day per week. Travel costs will be refunded by the employer.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
The apprentice will be trained in servicing maintaining heavey goods vehicles. They will be able to apply for roles as a Workshop Fitter.
