Role Overview:
The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of the company. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant, preferably with a background in audit, and will be responsible for overseeing statutory reporting, cash flow management, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.
Salary:
Competitive salary, up to £80,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.
Statutory Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory accounts.
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor and manage the company's cash flow to ensure liquidity.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and financial models.
- Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and working capital.
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Develop and maintain financial models for budgeting and forecasting.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify trends and recommend actions based on sound analysis.
Management Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Present financial results to senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor business performance.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all financial laws and regulations.
- Stay updated with changes in financial legislation and guidelines.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor the finance team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Lead financial projects and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Preferably from an audit background with experience in a reputable audit firm.
- Proven experience in statutory reporting and cash flow management.
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP/IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in financial modelling and forecasting.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Nice to have: Experience with Xero accounting software.
