Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a CAD Design Engineer on a Permanent basis, located in West Sussex.
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced CAD Technician with a strong background in substation design, including primary and civil works. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing and laying out substations up to 132 kV. This position requires the ability to work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate, high-quality layouts based on provided diagrams and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Substation Layouts: Design and draft 3D layouts for new, refurbished, and extended substations, focusing on primary and civil works.
2. Diagram Interpretation: Interpret provided diagrams to create detailed and accurate layouts.
3. Collaborative Design: Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure designs meet project requirements.
4. CAD Expertise: Utilize advanced CAD tools to create precise designs, with a focus on 3D design.
5. Site Integration: Support projects with occasional site visits to ensure alignment with on-site conditions and provide updates on layout feasibility.
6. Project Adaptability: Work on a variety of projects, including automotive works, refurbishments, and extensions.
7. Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards and best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. CAD Proficiency: Extensive experience with CAD software, particularly 3D design tools.
2. Substation Expertise: Strong background in substation design up to 132 kV, including primary and civil aspects.
3. Electrical Knowledge: A solid understanding of electrical systems as they relate to substation design.
4. Independence: Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
5. Site Experience: Some hands-on experience with site conditions to enhance design accuracy.
