The Vacancy:
Purpose of the role
To support production by developing and improving processes. To provide full process and quality engineering support with focus on “built in quality”, process control as opposed to final inspection culture.
Duties and responsibilities
To take accountability and responsibility for moulded components / over moulded cables and ensure:
* Fast turnaround and corrective action for Process/Quality issues affecting production.
* Lead APQP activities for new product introductions, ensuring all necessary plans are in place to meet customer quality requirements.
Develop and manage Control Plans, FMEA, and Process Flow Diagrams in line with APQP standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of APQP deliverables.
* Coordinate and prepare PPAP documentation for new products and process changes.
* Prepare and submit ISIR for new and modified parts to demonstrate compliance with customer specifications.
Review and analyse ISIR data to identify any discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Ensure timely submission of ISIRs to meet customer timelines and requirements.
* Ensure in conjunction with other engineering functions that all new products or updated tools for moulded components are verified as production ready prior to production release, this includes all aspects including design updates, cost, manufacturability, process capability etc.
* Support tool design for new and legacy product, reviewing suitability for manufacture. Be able to update tool designs and drawings in CAD software existing tools as needed.
* Support the production of new and legacy products being manufactured in mould shop and take direct responsibility for updating routings, manufacturing and process instructions / tooling etc to be in line with best method of manufacture.
* Support mould shop production area and take ownership for close out of process issues raised either to support customer delivery and or improve process.
* Analysing NRFT data to focus on areas that require process improvement.
* Mould shop area is supported on current and legacy product. This will be assessed through QCD measure linked to SPEED but typically will be cost reduction on process driving lower labour cost and or reduced defect / NRFT rate, lead-time reduction etc plus problem close out time and effectiveness.
* Carry out review of and take ownership for implementation of root cause fix and complete close out on all customer concerns (both internal and external) for designated area and engage directly with end customer as and when required.
* Lead initiatives aimed at reducing defects and improving overall product quality and analyse quality data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
* Carry out such other duties that may be reasonably requested.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* HNC/HND or above level qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
Experience
* Previous experience working in a Process Engineer role within a Manufacturing or Process Engineering environment.
* Experience using measuring equipment.
* Experience of design reviews and ensuring production problems are corrected with robust corrective actions and the product is produced to the desired quality.
* Process improvement and line flow implementation.
Technical Knowledge
* Mechanical bias knowledge with some electrical skills.
* A good understanding of the NPI process and getting products into manufacture, including documentation such as Manufacturing Instructions.
* Practical problem solving skills, including understanding manufacturing processes and solving issues on the shop floor.
Skills and Competencies
* Ability to accurately update and improve process documentation, both written and electronically, in line with company procedures.
* Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
Qualifications
* Higher education accreditation in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree level.
Experience
* Previous experience using CREO or similar CAD packages with an understanding of product life cycle software.
* Experience working in a process engineer role with injection / compression moulding equipment.
Technical Knowledge
* Amphenol product knowledge.
* Knowledge of connectors.
