About the Role
Based in Sittingbourne, this Project Manager position is a pivotal role that offers the opportunity to take full control of on-site operations for critical projects. You’ll be joining a skilled and dedicated team, tasked with overseeing daily site activities, maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards, and ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget. Reporting to a visiting Contract Manager and working closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for driving project success from inception to completion. This is a role for a committed, hands-on leader ready to tackle high-impact projects across varied sectors in civil engineering.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership: Direct on-site activities, ensuring all project objectives align with quality, budget, and scheduling standards.
2. Operations Management: Oversee site operations, coordinating resources and managing subcontractor activities to maintain workflow.
3. Health, Safety, & Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with industry regulations and company protocols.
4. Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site inspections to confirm that work meets exacting standards and adheres to project specifications.
5. Risk & Issue Management: Identify potential issues early and implement mitigation strategies to minimise impact.
6. Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the main on-site representative, maintaining open lines of communication with the visiting Contract Manager, team members, and client stakeholders.
7. Cost Control & Reporting: Partner with the Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage costs and provide timely, transparent financial reporting.
8. Programme & Scheduling: Create and adjust project timelines to meet targets, making dynamic changes when necessary.
9. Problem Solving & Flexibility: Approach challenges with a flexible, solution-oriented mindset to keep projects moving forward.
Candidate Requirements
1. Strong experience in civil engineering and infrastructure projects, with a background in project management or site leadership.
2. Familiarity with a range of civil engineering disciplines, such as groundwork, drainage, reinforced concrete structures, piling, and utilities.
3. Proven ability to lead project teams and manage site operations effectively.
4. Clear communicator with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and communicate professionally across all levels.
5. An honest, hard-working, and adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment.
