Support looked after children and care leavers aged 16-25 in Rotherham, providing essential housing support to promote independent living.
THE ROLE
As a Supported Housing Assistant, you will support care leavers in supported accommodation, their own tenancies, and at the Leaving Care Hub, helping them develop independent living skills.
* Provide one-to-one and group support, including independence workshops.
* Assist care leavers with tenancy sustainment, benefits, and rent payments.
* Ensure safety, security, and maintenance of accommodation services.
* Support young people in understanding and managing risks.
* Maintain professional records, ensuring compliance with Data Protection.
* Respond to welfare concerns, escalating issues as needed.
* Participate in a duty rota, responding to emergency call-outs and visitor management.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, supporting vulnerable young people in a housing or support setting.
* Experience working with care leavers or looked-after children.
* Knowledge of tenancy sustainment and housing-related support.
* Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans.
* Strong communication skills, working effectively with young people and professionals.
* Understanding of safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance in supported housing.
THE CONTRACT
* 35 hours per week, shift working on a 7-day rota including bank holidays.
* Working hours between 08:00 - 21:30.
* 3-month contract with potential temp-to-perm opportunity.
* Pay: £16.69 per hour LTD / £14.23 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday).
