SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
Location: North Shields
Salary: £75 - £100 per day
Contract: Full Time, Temporary
GSL Education are seeking a Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to work within Secondary education in North Shields.
Job Summary: The SEMH TA will provide support to primary-aged students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This role involves assisting in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes students' overall well-being and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Offer one-to-one support and group interventions for students with SEMH needs.
* Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive learning behaviors.
* Collaborate with class teachers and SENCO to implement individualized support plans.
* Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
Requirements of a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Previous experience working with SEMH or a strong interest in supporting children with additional needs.
* Compassionate and patient demeanor when dealing with challenging behaviors.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Resilience and adaptability in responding to the diverse needs of students.
