Snappy Shopper is the market leader in the growing Q-commerce convenience grocery sector, worth £41b in the UK. In addition to our independent retailers, we serve most of the major convenience store players, including One Stop, Spar, Nisa, Premier and Booker.
Snappy exists to enable local high street businesses to serve their customers online so that local communities thrive, and revenue stays local. Retailers have seen revenue uplifts of between £5k and £120k per month, making the platform mission critical to local business.
Our location
We are a Scottish start-up with 140 colleagues based around the UK and our Head Office is located in Dundee. This role can be offered on a fully remote, UK-based, contract. Occasional travel to our offices or our retailers may be required.
About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious and innovative subject matter expert to lead our efforts in solving the "cold start problem," expanding Snappy's presence in new markets, and driving growth in established areas. Reporting directly to the executive team, this role is crucial in aligning marketing strategies with business objectives, delivering rapid customer acquisition, and shaping the future of Snappy Shopper’s growth journey.
The Head of Marketing will be responsible for spearheading local market activation, developing data-driven and creative marketing campaigns, and leveraging industry trends to drive growth. This role will collaborate closely with product, sales, and regional growth teams, as well as founders, to ensure our marketing efforts create real business impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement innovative marketing strategies to solve the “cold start problem” in new markets while growing Snappy's footprint in established regions.
* Drive customer acquisition through bold, experimental campaigns, leveraging digital, community-based, and hyper-local channels.
* Lead the charge in local market activation, engaging independent retailers and consumers by harnessing market insights and trends.
* Analyse internal and external data, competitive activities, and market trends to continually refine marketing strategies.
* Act as a champion for growth hacking, delivering fast, measurable results and experimenting with creative approaches to marketing.
* Mentor and lead a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and impact.
* Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring optimal balance between growth initiatives and financial performance.
* Cultivate strong partnerships with retailers, customers, and influencers to build a brand that resonates within local communities.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will be/have:
* Proven success in high-growth startups, with a focus on q-commerce, marketplace environments, or local market activation.
* Demonstrated ability to solve market entry challenges, particularly through growth hacking methodologies.
* Strong data analysis skills, combined with a creative approach to campaign development.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with a deep understanding of both the consumer journey and independent retail landscape.
* Experience working closely with founders or senior leadership to align vision with actionable marketing strategies.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives.
* Proven experience in managing and owning a marketing budget, optimizing spend to achieve growth objectives.
