We are currently looking for a recently qualified Tax Senior to join our thriving Business Tax team. This is a key position and will be based in our Woking office.
The ideal candidate will be a recently qualified or an established Tax Senior with aspirations to progress to an Assistant Manager and beyond.
The purpose of this role is to manage and oversee a portfolio of corporation tax clients managing their compliance cycle with the assistance of more senior members of the team and being involved in advisory work as and when identified and appropriate.
This is a key role within the Business Tax team and the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering tax compliance and advisory services across a diverse mix of owner managed companies as well as some large and international groups operating across a variety of industries.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Involved in tax compliance matters including corporation tax returns and calculations, P11Ds, PSAs, ATED returns, ERS returns and EMI returns.
* Preparation of deferred tax calculations and tax notes for inclusion in statutory accounts.
* Supporting work on projects such as acquisitions, disposals and exit and succession planning.
* Identifying and assisting with advice on large corporate and international tax matters such as SAO, CBCR, Tax Strategy and BEPS Pillar II.
* Broad knowledge of other tax areas which are dealt with by other specialist teams, such as transfer pricing, VAT and R&D.
The Person:
The successful candidate will be expected to act largely autonomously, subject to support and oversight, as required, by the office’s tax partners and directors.
Relationship management will be a key aspect of the role, and the candidate will be expected to contribute to effective team working as part of the management team, responsible for coordinating directly with clients, collaborating effectively with colleagues as well coaching, managing, mentoring, and appraising junior team members.
Required skills & Experience:
* Newly qualified accountant and/or ATT/CTA qualified tax adviser.
* Corporate tax technical and practical knowledge.
* Knowledge of other business taxes and tax reporting processes is preferable but not essential.
* Knowledge of UK accounting standards and competent in interpreting accounts and other financial information.
* Strong IT skills including MS Office and databases, Alphatax ideal but not essential.
* Strong communication and organisation skills.
* Ability to listen to guidance and willingness to learn and develop.
* Shows initiative and an ability to self-manage, taking ownership of projects and capable of acting autonomously with support where required.
* Collaborates as a team player and capable of developing strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Inspires confidence in others. Communicates effectively both in writing and verbally, leveraging support from more senior colleagues when needed.
* Demonstrates empathy, takes responsibility for developing more junior staff and is supportive and collaborative in working with peers and senior colleagues.
* Able to work to deadlines and resilient to challenges and pressures.
