Position Package: 37 hours per week, full time on a fixed term contract until at least 31st March 2026 (subject to grant funding). Secondments will be considered for this post, but you will need the prior agreement of your line manager before applying.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Connected Communities team. Applications are invited for the post of Refugee Resettlement Team Leader. If you think you would be a good fit for our team, we would love to hear from you.
The Connected Communities team covers resettlement, mainly working in Newport, but with some work in Monmouthshire, supporting people with their new lives in the UK. The team also covers community cohesion for the Newport and Monmouthshire area.
We are looking for a person with the drive and commitment to lead our Resettlement team on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure effective delivery of the government resettlement programmes.
2. Lead a team of resettlement workers to provide high quality services which support clients to achieve independent lives.
3. Develop working relationships with a range of internal and external partners.
4. Work closely with colleagues to deliver cross-sectional work relating to community safety, community engagement, safeguarding and the delivery of wellbeing objectives.
5. Advise and prepare reports for senior leadership, cabinet members and partners on relevant policy and operational matters.
6. Support the development of the migration strategy and policy, including the Inclusive Cities and County of Sanctuary programmes.
7. Take the lead on developing initiatives to break down barriers to inclusion and integration.
8. Have proven ability to maintain databases and complete reports.
9. Be a highly proactive team player. We thrive on a can-do approach to service delivery.
Please be aware that there is some regional working associated with this post and the expectation will be that you are able to work across Newport and Monmouthshire as needed. Currently, the team is based in the Newport office and is expected to work in the office at least two days a week.
