IMultiply are working in partnership with a not-for-profit looking for a Full-Time, permanent Assistant Accountant to be based in their office on the outskirts of Edinburgh. This is a great opportunity for a personable individual with high levels of accuracy and exceptional communication skills.
The Company
This is a fantastic opportunity within a small, friendly and supportive finance team within a not-for-profit organisation. Working closely with CFO to gain experience across the wider finance function.
The Role
The main purpose of this role is to oversee the day-to-day finances of the organisation. Reporting to the CFO, you will play an active role in improving efficiency and utilising the finance system (Xero) to its full capacity. You will use your initiative and high levels of accuracy to ensure smooth running within finance.
As the Assistant Accountant, you will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:
* Ensure the accurate recording and reconciliation of all income streams daily.
* Recording of all purchase invoices and credit notes, purchase ledger administration, conducting reconciliations, preparing & managing regular payment runs.
* Record bank transactions and reconciliations
* Manage the expense process, ensuring claims are processed efficiently and in line with budget controls.
* Support CFO in preparing financial reports, including monthly management accounts and end-of-year accounts.
* Provide accurate and timely data, ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory obligations
* Support the CFO in providing relevant financial information to the organisation
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following:
* Practical experience in a finance role – particularly Accounts Payable
* Experience using Xero would be very beneficial
* Eagerness to get stuck in with all finance tasks and support the wider organisation
* Exceptional organisational skills and accountability
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Eager to learn and expand your knowledge to ensure you work efficiently
* Competent in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel)
* Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of numeracy and accuracy
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Capable of completing tasks independently with minimal supervision
