Le Régent is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Head of Extracurricular Sports. The person appointed will be expected to work closely with the Head of Sports Faculty and the Head of Co-curricular & Outdoor Education, to ensure the delivery of a dynamic and engaging sports programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the extra-curricular sports programme, as well as the organisation of home and away sporting competitions. Skiing to an advanced level is required and the ability to coach one of basketball, football or volleyball would be expected. A driving licence is required for this role.
JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Extra-curricular Sports is responsible for the running of the extra-curricular sports programme, including external sports fixtures (also at weekends), competitive team sports training and after-school activities. The role will involve the development of engaging clubs for our students and fostering a positive and effective learning environment for students to flourish.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Development, Fixture & Tournament Coordination:
* Develop a structured annual programme of fixtures and tournaments (SGIS and MLS) across multiple sports and age groups.
* Organize and oversee SGIS, MLS, and ADISR fixtures and tournaments hosted by Le Régent International School.
* Represent the school at SGIS, MLS, and ADISR meetings throughout the year to stay updated on competition structures and opportunities.
* Work closely with the Head of Sports and Head of Co-Curricular & Outdoor to develop, coordinate, and staff the team training programme.
* Arrange league and friendly fixtures for Volleyball, Basketball, Football, and other appropriate sports each term.
* Facilitate the possibility for students to undertake private sports lessons and clubs.
* Develop partnerships with external sports organizations, clubs, and federations to enhance opportunities for students.
* Liaise with sports staff regarding tournament entries.
* Book transport, finance, and restaurant services as required.
* Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding the Extracurricular programme, student progress, and departmental initiatives and be on hand to respond to queries.
Qualifications, Experience & Desired Skills :
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sports or a related field is essential, together with a PGCE or other internationally recognised, rigorous teaching qualification.
* Strong organizational and administrative skills with keen attention to detail.
* Experience in sports coordination, coaching, or event management.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with students, staff, parents, and external partners.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Passion for youth sports development and fostering a positive, inclusive sporting environment.
* Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety in a school sports setting.
* A knowledge of French would be an advantage.
* A ski or snowboard instructor qualification and experience would be an advantage.
* A valid driving license (ability to drive a minibus is essential).
This role is integral to enriching the school’s extracurricular offering, ensuring students develop a love for sports, teamwork, and personal growth. This includes a commitment to after-school activities and some weekends.
