The Advanced Assembly Technician at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) will play a crucial role in the operation of a new laser processing cell. The successful candidate will work on high-tech manufacturing projects, contributing to the development of innovative products and technologies. This position requires a deep understanding of manufacturing, attention to detail, and the ability to work with sophisticated tools and equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Perform complex and precise laser manufacturing tasks.
2. Operate cutting edge laser processing machinery to deliver project requirements on time and to specification.
3. Follow detailed assembly instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation to ensure high-quality results.
4. Operate advanced laser equipment and specialized tools, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
5. Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of tools to maintain optimal performance.
6. Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain product integrity.
7. Work closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians to solve technical challenges and optimize assembly processes.
8. Provide feedback on design and assembly processes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
9. Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, test results, and any deviations from standard procedures.
10. Update documentation and work instructions as needed to reflect process improvements or changes.
11. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
12. Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in assembly and manufacturing processes.
13. Mentor and train junior technicians and apprentices, sharing expertise and promoting skill development within the team.
14. Stay updated on the latest assembly technologies and techniques through ongoing training and professional development.
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Experience in laser processing or a similar manufacturing discipline.
2. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and instructions.
3. Strong hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing tools and equipment.
4. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
2. Certifications in advanced assembly techniques or related areas.
