We are currently seeking an experienced Quarry Manager based at our Dowlow Quarry, Buxton for the position of Phase 1 (Quarry Operations Manager).
In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient management and operation of the busy quarries in line with the Quarries Regulations 1999, covering the production of gravel aggregates.
Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate a sound knowledge of crushing and screening using static plant, maintenance activities on both fixed and mobile plant, experience in blasting, and effective planning and organization of quarrying operations.
* Implement planned preventative maintenance schemes, monitor and reduce energy consumption, ensure continuous improvement of quarry operations, and safely manage teams of Breedon staff and contractors.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Ideally, you will hold a QCF level 6 (equivalent NVQ level 4/5) in Health, Safety & Environmental management within the extractives industry; possess good leadership skills to promote positive team working; and communicate effectively with other functions within the business.
You will have experience of holding a regulation 8.1 appointment in previous roles, as well as proof of competencies relating to that appointment.
To be successful, you must be comfortable with a hands-on role to drive forward our health and safety culture, as well as being focused on the needs of our customers.
Safety will be a key element of the role; you might also be required to conduct risk assessments and health and safety inspections, and demonstrate leadership in safety.
An important element of the role involves administrative duties, including writing reports, updating records, procurement, and budget control.
An ability to plan and organize work efficiently is critical.
The ideal candidate will have a background in a relevant industry, with a strong focus on safety and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will have a flexible, proactive, and versatile approach to work, with an energetic “hands-on” approach, the ability to anticipate problems, consider solutions, and work collaboratively with colleagues both formally and informally.
This position is ideal for a highly motivated person with experience in plant operations.
