Role Definition
You will play a key part taking responsibility for the environmental performance of the site and ensuring compliance with British and EU environmental legislation. An excellent opportunity for the right candidate to take on an Environmental role; previous experience is preferred but we will support you in achieving further training.
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.00pm including breaks
Reporting to: Site Manager
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 dependent on experience, plus a KPI bonus on achievement of targets.

The role involves:
* Ensuring compliance with British/European legislation and the site EA permit
* Keeping the site up to date with current ISO 14001 standard
* Leading and managing environmental projects and improvements
* Managing all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental initiatives, conservation, and energy and water efficiencies
* Completing and submitting weekly, bimonthly, and annual ISO 14001 reports
* Liaising with relevant bodies such as EA, Water and local authorities, and public bodies
* Auditing, analyzing, and reporting environmental performance to management and regulatory bodies
* Actively contributing towards achieving the ABP Environmental Targets by 2030
* Preparing reports as required
* Educating all staff on environmental issues and responsibilities
* Maintaining group environmental management systems
* Participating in environmental education and research
* Supporting and driving environmental community engagement activities such as tree planting
* Managing site surroundings including grassed areas and plant borders
* Taking responsibility for all site-related environmental spend
* Overall management responsibility for the operation, efficiency, and compliance of the on-site wastewater treatment plant
* Understanding and reporting on the overall costs of utilities in the business
* Completing Bill of Materials for all products dispatched and updating any changes

Skills
* Strong IT skills within Microsoft Excel and Word
* Prior knowledge of working with ISO 14001 system or other compliance systems such as ISO 45001 or 50001 preferred but not essential
* Self-motivated
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Evidence of an environmental qualification or relevant experience
* Keen interest in sustainability and the environment
* Able to work under own initiative
* Team player
* Ability to follow detailed operating procedures with high attention to detail
