Main duties of the job
An exciting administrative opportunity has arisen within the Surgical Admissions Team at Lymington New Forest Hospital.
The key function of the role is to provide a seamless booking and administrative service for patients, from their Outpatient appointment to their surgery. You will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills in the booking, processing and management of patients throughout the surgical department.
You will have attention to detail and excellent communication skills to liaise with patients, their relatives and the clinical team. You will also have excellent organisational skills, work to tight deadlines and perform under pressure. You will need to be IT literate as the role involves using different IT-based trust systems, though full training will be given.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who can use their own initiative, be able to prioritise their own workload, and work under pressure. You will have good IT skills and some previous admin experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
You will have good communication skills, face to face and over the telephone. You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, have a good eye for detail and excellent organisational skills.
You will be friendly and approachable, whilst also maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Qualifications / Training Required
Essential criteria
1. Good standard of general education with literacy and numeracy skills demonstrable to GCSE pass level or equivalent standard
2. Proficient in the use of Microsoft products in particular Word, Excel
3. IT confident and able to use email and the internet
Desirable criteria
1. Courses / further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
2. Knowledge of medical terminology
Previous or Relevant Experience Necessary
Essential criteria
1. Administrative and organisational experience
2. Previous experience of working within an acute healthcare setting
3. Experience of working in a busy and pressured environment
Desirable criteria
1. Proficient in the use of all hospital computerised patient systems

2. Solid communication skills both written and verbal
