My Client in Worcester is looking for an Automation and Control Development Engineer.
Job Responsibilities
1. Determining the best way to implement bespoke automation and control processes for the application using my client's CADET (internal software) and DACS (Data Acquisition and Control System) from customer supplied requirements and specifications.
2. Developing C# control software using the advanced CADET API to implement the solution. Knowledge of VB6/VBA is useful for supporting legacy systems.
3. Supporting customers with new and existing systems in person and remotely for fault finding and integrating new functionality.
4. Interfacing to 3rd party equipment for integration within the CADET environment, using C# language.
5. Experience working with protocols such as Ethernet, Serial, Ethercat, CAN, Profibus, AK protocol (over Ethernet/Serial) is useful.
6. Developing automation sequences using standard CADET editor tools.
7. Analysing engineering systems to advise on the best methods of automation.
8. Analysing post-test diagnostics logs to advise fault rectifications (software, electrical, and mechanical) within complex engineering systems.
9. Creating test and acceptance procedures.
10. Creating custom system functionality based on customer requirements.
11. Site visits to customers for installing, testing, and documenting the solution, within the UK and globally as required. Estimated at 20% customer site work.
12. Working with electrical design engineers to advise on the requirements of new systems.
13. Working with commissioning engineers and project/site managers to achieve sign-off from the customer.
14. Owning initiative garage projects based on anticipated future requirements and enhancements of existing tools.
15. Providing information to the sales department for quotation purposes.
16. Source code management via SourceTree, BitBucket, and Jira.
17. Experience with PLC systems (particularly safety PLC systems) is useful, but not essential.
18. Potential to become project lead on various products.
Suitable Candidate
1. Looking for a self-driven, proactive individual that has good time management skills.
2. Good understanding of C# and Visual Studio.
3. Engineering understanding of control & automation systems.
4. Ideally suited to a joint electrical and mechanical/robotic/Mechatronics/Automation engineering degree with at least 3 years of experience in an electrical-based automation role.
5. Good understanding of automation hardware (sensors, actuators, inverters, etc).
6. Willing to work away from home during the working week as required (given suitable notice), with occasional overseas trips.
7. Good written and verbal communication skills.
8. Full UK driving licence.
9. Indefinite UK right to work.
Benefits
GBP40,000.00 - GBP50,000.00 PA depending on experience.
37.5 hours per week, with Flextime. Core hours:
* 10:00; Monday - Thursday (office open 7:30)
* 10:00; Friday (office open 7:00)
* If on customer sites then site hours are discussed with customers and project managers on a per project basis.
Overtime when working on client sites, above 37.5 hours per week (hours classed as door-to-door) or when overseas.
33 days holiday (25 days plus national holidays).
Site/overnight/travel expenses paid in line with company policy.

Location
The role is office-based, with some UK and overseas client site work (estimated at 20%).
