Position Summary
The Material Planner is responsible for supporting the dedicated regions and respective business segment(s) and to understand their forecast, demand, requirement and expectations related to supply of material. The Material Planner will act as, and manage the information flow between the regions business segment(s) and the SCM organization and to ensure material availability and supply strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities
Functions
ESSENTIAL
General and Task Management
1. Implement and maintain SCMs planning, inventory and sourcing and supply strategy for respective regions.
2. Hold ERP system updated with all relevant material and planning related settings.
3. Monitor ERP processes and information flow related to planning, material demand and fulfillment.
4. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate processes for material delivery from supplier/interunit to warehouse.
5. Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on operation and production. Escalate concerns where appropriate.
6. Take follow up actions in relation to process and performance issues, material shortages that affect the business.
7. Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.
8. Manage the scheduling of material flow to meet Production and Operational schedules and customer requirements.
9. Utilize any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) or IT system that is in place and ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required.
10. Monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM), Work order demand.
11. Ensure relevant personnel has information to prioritize their tasks in line with strategy, plans and business needs.
12. Drive processes for improving Item IDs information and data integrity including elimination of duplicates.
13. Assist in identifying Item IDs and/or establish new Item IDs when necessary.
14. Assist Workshop and Purchasing Department in establishing and maintaining realistic dates for fulfillment of demands.
15. Lead processes to reduce and mitigate unallocated and bad inventory.
16. Re-prioritize order of Material Demands when necessary.
17. Monitor and report issues related to interunit transaction between offshore and onshore locations, as required.
18. Cooperate with relevant teams to optimize lead-times that affect inventory levels and demand fulfillments.
19. Maintain Inventory Reorder Point, Max levels and Safety Stock level for relevant regions inventories.
20. Increase usage of Repaired Items as replacements for new Items.
21. Minimise obsolete stock and ensure business is left with minimum liability.
22. Create regular statistical reports and analysis and update stakeholders in the organization.
23. Define and maintain specific demand and planning related TTIs in cooperation with local leadership.
24. Report progress and status to global SCM organization as required.
Relationship Management
1. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast, plan and facilitate on-time materials to the production/operational schedule as and when required, avoiding disruption to production.
2. Generate and communicate supplier material delivery schedules and forecasts to ensure they reflect requirements and meet demands.
3. Develop and maintain good relationships with interunit partners and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
1. Qualification in Supply Chain/ Business discipline.
2. The individual must have experience in ERP or MRP systems.
3. Direct experience with a Supply and Demand realm including forecasts, receipt and deliver processes, inventory reports, accuracy validation procedures, cycle counts and audit procedures is required.
DESIRED
1. Strong written and oral communication skills.
2. Professional Certification from CIPS and/or IOSM is desirable.
3. Excellent negotiating, contract management, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
4. Knowledge of MS Office and PeopleSoft ERP System.
5. Ability to work with cross-cultural organizations and groups.

Working Conditions
This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows:
1. Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
2. Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place.
3. Work surface is stable (flat).
