An experienced and educated Governess is required for the care of three children aged B10 (Jun), B7 (Jan), and G4 (May). The family lives around 15 minutes from Brighton. The children live between two households with their mother and father, within a 5-minute drive of each other, providing a nice split living situation.
The parents are seeking a Governess to assist the children in maintaining a well-structured routine, helping them get organized for school, playdates, extra-curricular activities, and homework support where possible. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Governess and be confident working with children of various ages, cooking simple meals, and promoting healthier eating choices. The household does not have any food restrictions or allergies, and you must be comfortable preparing all foods.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, confident to start the role, and able to advise and guide the parents. Essentially, the family is looking for a ‘third parent’ to support the children and ensure consistency in patterns and routines throughout the week. A confident and forward-thinking candidate with great organizational skills would be ideal, along with someone who is happy to assist with running some household errands and advising on household needs to support the children. Accommodation will be live-out, with good rental options in the surrounding areas of Haywards Heath, Brighton, and Hove.
The working hours will be from Monday to Friday, 12pm to 7pm during term time. The hours may increase during school holidays but will not exceed 50 hours per week. While the parents will likely continue to drop the children off at school, a degree of flexibility is needed from time to time. You may be asked to assist in the mornings if the parents are required to travel for work commitments. A driver with their own car is required, as the family doesn’t have a spare vehicle; however, they will cover the additional business insurance on your policy.
The eldest son (10 years old) has main interests in technology, drama, and arts and crafts. He is charismatic and well-liked by his peers. The family would like the candidate to support him in making healthier choices regarding screen time and food. Although currently undiagnosed, there may be indications of ADHD traits, so a candidate with limited SEN experience and the ability to deal with varying emotional responses is preferred.
The 7-year-old boy is a keen rugby and cricket player, enjoys school, loves maths and reading, and is self-motivated regarding studying.
Their daughter is 4 years old, confident, sociable, and enjoys coloring, riding her bike and scooter. She attends rugby on weekends with her brother and is happy to play outdoors and get muddy!
The role is to start around April 2025, making this suitable for a candidate seeking a spring start date, especially if their current role is coming to an end. The salary on offer for this role is £50,000 gross per annum, and the family is ready to start interviewing candidates in February.
