Job Description:
Job Summary:
Each Positive Behaviour Support Lead will work as part of a dedicated team to provide a consistently high quality active support service within a caring environment, ensuring that both the people we support and staff are treated with dignity and respect.
The PBS Portadown service is an incredibly challenging but equally rewarding service to work in. It is a supported living setting that facilitates a bespoke placement for individuals with complex needs that includes mental health issues, learning disabilities, and autism coupled with behaviours that challenge.
The PBS lead role is very much hands-on, where the lead will have a high level of active engagement with people we support in all areas of their daily lives. In conjunction with Positive Behaviour Support practitioners, this will include personal care, medication management and administration, meal preparation, cleaning and laundry, money management, activity planning, facilitating appointments, assisting with family visits, and setting future goals.
Due to the level of support required, there is a high staffing ratio of 2:1. Working in partnership with the Trust, our team gathers and collates data to implement bespoke PBS plans to improve the lives of the individuals we support.
Through a key worker system, the use of advanced positive behaviour methodologies, and liaising with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) including the Intensive Support Service, social worker, speech and language therapist, and clinical psychologist, the Positive Behaviour Support Leads will be responsible for overseeing programmes of support and coordinating the delivery of these by fully immersing themselves in their application and actively supporting the team of Positive Behavioural Support Workers and supported people on a daily basis.
As an organisation of excellence, Praxis Care will continuously evolve and improve practice, undertaking research to support its aim to be a world leader in this field.
About The Role
Key Accountabilities:
1. Support the manager with the day-to-day operational running of the service including rota management and creation, supervision, and appraisal of staff.
2. Plan, co-ordinate and implement the safe transition of new supported people into the service and community where necessary in consultation with the MDT.
3. In consultation with the MDT and management, PBS leads will identify specific areas of data collection that are required, agree how this data will be gathered, collated, and share this information with the MDT for analysis within fortnightly core group meetings to inform decision making in relation to the effectiveness of current PBS plans and approaches.
4. Ensure that adequate records are created and maintained, and necessary reports, including untoward/critical incidents are produced and reported in line with organisational policy and statutory requirements. This will include facilitating and participating in debriefs on an individual and group basis.
5. Have a full working knowledge of positive behavioural support and systems theory and to be able to exercise judgement in identifying and addressing complex behaviours where a range of options and the implications of each of these have to be considered.
6. Provide effective leadership, supervision, and management to a team of Positive Behaviour Support Workers, including monitoring of adherence to supported people's care and support plans, bespoke PBS plans, reflective practice, timekeeping, attendance, and the participation in any capability, disciplinary and grievances procedures.
7. Complete any mandatory training identified as necessary by the Organisation whilst identifying and addressing personal development opportunities for both the post holder and those managed by the post holder.
