Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist - Microbiology to join a leading biopharmaceutical company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Senior Research Scientist - Microbiology, you will be joining the pre-clinical development team and be responsible for contributing to the advancement of cutting-edge microbiology-based therapeutics.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Senior Research Scientist - Microbiology will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Execution of QPCR assays to quantify bacteria in clinical trial samples.
2. Development and optimisation of quality control assays for batch release, including assays to quantify viable bacteria in live bacterial drugs.
3. Development of microbiological and molecular assays to characterise novel bacterial isolates and test hypotheses on their mechanisms of action in the gastrointestinal tract.
4. Characterisation of anaerobic gut bacteria for development into live bacterial therapeutics, supporting regulatory submissions.
Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Research Scientist - Microbiology we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant PhD in Microbiology or a related discipline/equivalent experience.
2. Proven industry experience in microbiology and molecular biology.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with QPCR assays and anaerobic bacteria.
