Case Progression Officer

Main Purpose of the Role:
* Support officers to ensure prosecution files meet quality and timeliness guidelines as specified within Directors guidance.
* Provide a case management and file building function in relation to the upgrading of all prosecution files in line with national standards.
* Manage case files related to road traffic collisions and other motoring offences.
Main Responsibilities:
* Identify, obtain and collate additional information necessary to prepare a full prosecution file in line with DPP Guidance.
* Act as the single point of contact with Crown Prosecution Service for queries and additional evidence requirements.
* Edit Unused Material and complete Disclosure Schedules for Officer in Case review/sign off.
* Use digital playback systems to view CCTV footage ensuring it is evidential and in the correct format for CPS transmission.
* Create, update and maintain a ‘Bad Character’ Library to assist in prosecution case preparation.
* Provide advice and support to operational officers on file preparation, quality, and timeliness.
* Gather information ethically from various sources to support actions.
* Utilize technology to interrogate Force systems to gather evidential information.
* Undertake other duties commensurate with the nature and level of responsibility of this post.
Knowledge:
* Educated to A level or equivalent qualification.
* Understanding of the Criminal Justice System and evidential requirements for prosecution.
* Understanding of the processes for bringing offenders to justice.
Experience:
* Experience in researching and collating complex information and presenting accurate documentation.
Key Skills:
* Competent in IT, including Microsoft packages.
* Able to work under pressure and manage high workloads to strict deadlines.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Special Conditions:
* Exposure to disturbing/unpleasant images or tasks.
* Working hours between 0700 and 1700hrs with a requirement to work outside core hours on a rota as needed.
