DESCRIPTION We are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Technical Specialist - Hardware to join our team specializing in Engineering for our EMEIA Engineering Department in Sandwich, Kent, United Kingdom. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways : - Customer-Centric Enhancements: By interpreting customer needs, you'll identify and implement necessary modifications and enhancements to products, ensuring they meet both internal and external requirements. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with other departments like Operations and Marketing, you'll develop effective solutions to address various challenges and improve product performance. - Innovation and Improvement: You'll identify and integrate new products and components, driving continuous improvement and innovation in the company's power generation offerings. - Compliance and Standards: Maintaining a thorough understanding of company procedures, standards, codes, and legislation, you'll ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant guidelines. - Technical Expertise: As a technical specialist, you'll provide valuable insights and support to team members and other functions, enhancing overall technical proficiency within the organization. - Project Leadership: Leading and participating in long-term projects, you'll apply your experience in design and power generation systems to deliver new products through the New Product Introduction approach. - Hardware Development: You'll develop and validate essential electrical and electronic hardware, such as sensors, actuators, and control units, ensuring consistent operation of Cummins' products. - System Integration: By integrating control systems and managing analog and digital signals, you'll contribute to the reliable performance of products across various customer applications. RESPONSIBILITIES To be successful in this role you will need the following: - Technical Proficiency: Expertise in designing and applying mechatronics systems, specifying electronic hardware, and creating electrical and mechanical system architectures. This includes a deep understanding of electrified systems and their integration into Cummins' products. - Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to identify and mitigate potential product failure modes, solve product problems using data-driven methods, and implement robust solutions to prevent recurrence. This ensures the reliability and quality of the products. - Analytical Capabilities: Proficiency in product function modeling, simulation, and analysis to predict and validate product performance. This involves using computational tools to make informed design decisions. - Verification and Validation: Experience in developing and managing product verification and validation plans, assessing system capabilities, and ensuring that products meet both Cummins' and customer expectations through rigorous testing and evaluation. QUALIFICATIONS Education/ Experience: - Bachelor/ Master's degree in Electrical Engineering OR equivalent education accompanied by registration with the UK Engineering Council or equivalent at CEng (Chartered Engineer) level is preferred. Preference is to have individual based out of UK - Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles. - Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
