NextCare Urgent Care is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant / Patient Service Specialist (Medical Front Office Receptionist) that enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced setting and working in a team environment. Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant / Patient Service Specialist (Medical Front Office Receptionist) is the first point of contact for patients in the clinic while supporting front office functions, as well as caring for patients in a Medical Assistant capacity while supporting back office functions. Responsibilities include:
1. Keeping patients and families informed of wait times.
2. Monitoring the flow of patients.
3. Processing patients for discharge, including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining necessary signatures, and issuing receipts.
4. Performing patient care duties under the Medical Assistant scope of practice in the urgent care setting.
How you will make an impact
The Medical Assistant / Patient Service Specialist (Medical Front Office Receptionist) supports the organization with customer service and treating all of our patients with respect and dignity. They ensure the clinic and front reception area runs smoothly and patient flow is optimal while providing patient care services in the back office medical setting.
Essential Education, Experience, and Skills:
Employed in all states other than Arizona
Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; and
1. The medical assistant candidate has completed an APPROVED Medical Assistant Training Program*. Certification is not required but is preferred.
“Approved medical assistant training program” means a program accredited by one of the following two-accreditation organizations:
1. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health.
2. The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
3. The U.S. Department of Education DAPIP.
2. The medical assistant candidate has completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND
1. Certification* is required.
Successfully passes the medical assistant examination administered by a certifying organization accredited by either of the following two agencies:
1. National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
2. American National Standards Institute.
Certifying organizations accepted are:
1. American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification.
2. American Medical Technologists (AMT) – provides the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification.
3. National Healthcareer Association (NHA)- administers the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification.
3. The medical assistant candidate may be hired if they meet one of the following three (3) criteria:
1. The medical assistant candidate completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND has been employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion.
2. The medical assistant candidate was directly supervised by a maximum of three physician(s) or physician group(s) for a minimum of 2000 hours total.
3. The medical assistant completed a United States Armed Forces medical services training program.
