Responsibilities of the SEMH Secondary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA): Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs. Assist in classroom activities, behavioural support, and personal development. Implement positive behaviour management strategies to create a structured learning environment. Work alongside teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored learning plans. Support students in building self-confidence, resilience, and social skills. Help students overcome barriers to learning and develop a love for education. Travel between school locations if required (driver essential). Requirements of the SEMH Secondary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA): Experience working with secondary-aged students with SEMH needs. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people. Strong behaviour management skills and experience using de-escalation techniques. Ability to build positive relationships with students who may have complex backgrounds. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (essential). A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare. Understanding of various SEN conditions.
